Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward is hoping to make a sophomore leap under a new coaching staff in 2026. Not everyone is a believer, however. FanSided recently ranked all 92 quarterbacks on an active roster. Ward clocked in at No. 23 overall, under the fifth tier, aptly titled "game manager."
Ward ranked ahead of quarterbacks like Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, and Bryce Young. He's below Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray in the same ranking tier. While some may feel Ward's placement is actualy generous, he's surely hoping to be better than the 23rd-best quarterback in the NFL this season.
The Titans invested heavily around Ward this offseason. The coaching staff has been revamped, and the personnel has been upgraded. Ward is aiming to prove a panel full of doubters wrong in 2026.

The Titans hired Brian Daboll as their new offensive coordinator. Coach Daboll spent the offseason building his offense around Ward. Built-in answers, short-yardage checkdowns, and zone beaters designed to make Ward a more efficient quarterback have been some of the primary focuses of installing this new system.
No designed offense can overcome talent deficiencies. That's what Ward had to endure throughout his rookie season. Trying to prevent that from happening again, the Titans signed Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency and drafted Carnell Tate at No. 4 overall. The receiving corps has been seriously improved as a result.
The offensive line could be a shocking strength, especially in run blocking. The Titans believe in Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears at running back. Pollard and Spears, alongside tight ends Gunnar Helm and Daniel Bellinger, will play big roles in providing Ward with QB-friendly targets.
There's no denying that Ward's rookie season was a struggle. He took a league-high 55 sacks behind a horrid offensive line as the Titans finished 3-14 for a second consecutive season, with head coach Brian Callahan being fired midway through. Ward's statistics and circumstances undeniably played a huge role in FanSided's panel of 50 experts placing his consensus ranking at No. 23.
But Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi worked overtime this offseason to ensure Ward's surroundings are so much better heading into 2026. It's up to the sophomore No. 1 overall selection to ensure he masters the new system while growing chemistry with his weapons in order to maximize what the Titans did around him this offseason.
If all goes well, Ward could place much higher on this list next offseason.
