The Tennessee Titans were defeated 33-19 by the Los Angeles Rams in Sunday's Week 2 contest, dropping to 0-2. For a Titans team that is content to rebuild slowly, the only thing that truly matters in 2025 is the progress made by rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Ward was pretty outstanding on Sunday, and his young playmakers are growing alongside him.
Ward completed 19-of-33 passing attempts for 175 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. He was sacked on five occasions and lost a fumble. Even the harshest of critics would credit Ward with roughly two outright negative plays, and about two handfuls of impressive moments, some of which were jaw-dropping.
Rookie wide receiver Elic Ayomanor was on the receiving end of both of Ward's highlight-reel-worthy plays. The fourth-round selection recorded a team-high four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. The budding chemistry between Ward and Ayomanor is an excellent development for the Titans.

The Titans' best possession was a 10-play, 56-yard scoring drive that saw Ayomanor make two eye-popping plays. Facing a critical 3rd-and-6 from the Rams' 32, Ward floated a gorgeous ball in Ayomanor's direction near the right sideline. The former Stanford standout made an incredible one-handed catch by pinning the ball to his helmet.

It set the Titans up at 1st-and-goal at the Rams' nine. After two incomplete passes, Ward scrambled around the backfield on 3rd-and-goal before throwing across his body. Ayomanor made a contested catch as rookie quarterback and pass-catcher combined for their first respective TDs.

GM Mike Borgonzi attempted to build a nucleus around Ward this offseason. The payoff was never going to be immediate, but the performance put forth by Ward and Ayomanor on Sunday offered a peak into brighter days ahead. Ayomanor appears capable of being a solution at a keynote position for the Titans in 2025 and more importantly, beyond.
