Titans linked to former first-round QB as potential Will Levis successor

The Tennessee Titans are in Year 2 of the Will Levis era and so far, things aren't going well. Not only are the Titans 0-3 on the year but Levis has made countless mistakes as the starting quarterback. From throwing the game-losing interception against the Bears in Week 1, to the fumble that made Brian Callahan ask "What the f*** are you doing?" in Week 2, Levis might not be in the Titans' future plans if he continues to struggle.

Enter, the trade deadline. Teams have until after Week 9 to decide if they want to keep or trade key players and even though the Titans don't look to be a contender this year, they might still decide to make some moves. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report thinks that Tennessee could be a potential landing spot for former number one overall pick Bryce Young.

Young was the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft and struggled immensely during his first season and the first two games of this season. Panthers head coach Dave Canales ended up benching Young and the Panthers went on to win their Week 3 match-up against the Raiders behind Andy Dalton.

With Young getting benched, it's made other teams think he could be available in a trade, and Knox thinks the Titans could make sense for the former Heisman Trophy winner. He notes that even though the Panthers have said Young is not going to be on the trade block, Tennssee should look into adding him.

"The Titans could also be interested in the 23-year-old as a long-term QB play if second-year man Will Levis continues to struggle."

Titans trading for Bryce Young wouldn't make any sense

Maybe Young did a raw deal landing in Carolina but at this point, there'd be little point in the Titans trading for him when they have Will Levis. Yes, Levis has struggled so far this season but if the Titans wanted to find a quarterback to win games for them, why would they trade for a guy who looks to be one of the biggest number-one draft busts of all time?

If Levis and the Titans finish with a bad record this year and they have a high draft pick, the plan would probably be to draft a quarterback with one of those picks and reset at the position. That would likely be the case if Levis continues to make poor decisions though. If Levis starts to play better, perhaps the Titans would end up sticking with him.

Either way, trading for Bryce Young wouldn't make sense for the Titans. He's flamed out in Carolina and there'd be no need to bring him to Nashville.
