The Tennessee Titans have one of the best trios of wide receivers in the entire league. General manager Ran Carthon has spent the entire offseason upgrading the supporting cast around sophomore quarterback Will Levis. Carthon got particularly aggressive in free agency, first signing Calvin Ridley to a four-year $92 million contract, before adding slot receiver Tyler Boyd via a one-year deal.

Ridley projects as Tennessee's potential No. 1 receiver this season after totaling 1,000 yards with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. His familiarity with new Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holz could help him supplant Hopkins, who was ol' reliable for Levis last year by surpassing 1,000 receiving yards, too. Boyd, who spent five seasons (2019-23) playing for head coach Brian Callahan in Cincinnati, will be the slot receiver in Callahan's preferred 11 personnel grouping.

Little-to-no questions are present regarding who Tennessee's top three receivers are this season. Ridley, Hopkins, and Boyd will dominate snap counts when healthy. Fast forward to next offseason, however, and Carthon may be tasked with overhauling his pass-catching unit for a second consecutive summer. Both Hopkins and Boyd are entering the final year of their respective contracts, and neither player is overly likely to receive an extension from Carthon given their advancing ages (Hopkins turned 32 earlier this month, and Boyd will turn 30 in November).

Hopkins is scheduled to earn a base salary of $8.2 million this season while carrying a manageable cap charge of $18.3 million, according to OverTheCap. Boyd signed a one-year deal worth $4.5 million. Their expected departures is precisely why many 2025 NFL mock drafts are targeting a receiver for the Titans.

That's precisely why Oliver Hodgkinson of Pro Football Network has the Titans selecting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III with the No. 2 overall pick in his latest 2025 NFL mock draft.

"If the Tennessee Titans select second overall, as the latest Super Bowl odds suggest, don’t rule out the franchise moving on from Will Levis," Hodgkinson wrote. "However, with question marks over the QB class, selecting a dominant offensive weapon like Luther Burden III — as in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft — to elevate that side of the ball could be an equally productive move."

Burden was dominant for the Tigers this past season. The Missouri native experienced a breakout campaign, totaling 86 receptions for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns. Titans fans would be thrilled to add Burden to the offense next season. What would disappoint the fan-base is doing it through the No. 2 overall selection.
