Yet another Mike McDaniel update on Week 4 starting QB won’t scare the Titans

Still ain't scared, Mike.

If the Tennessee Titans wanted a winnable game to get themselves back on track this season, Week 4 certainly provides them a shot.

The Miami Dolphins will host the Titans in a Monday Night Football double header which also features the Seattle Seahawks traveling to take on the Detroit Lions. And, for an offense that's struggled as much as Tennessee's has, at least things aren't as bad as they are over in Miami.

The Dolphins lost starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the foreseeable future after a scary head injury, which forced backup Skylar Thompson into action. Things weren't yet all that great this season, with Tua, and haven't gotten better with Thompson.

The Dolphins are averaging a measly 10 points per game on offense this season, scoring 17 in Week 1, 10 in Week 2 and just three points last week. Now, Thompson is banged up with a rib injury and the Dolphins' quarterback situation is up in the air.

Or, is it?

We recently wrote that the Titans are actually preparing to face veteran Tyler "Snoop" Huntley on Monday night, and in all likelihood, that's what is going to unfold for Miami. The Dolphins signed Huntley a week and a half ago and all signs pointed to the former Baltimore Raven eventually taking over for Thompson.

However, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has tried to play it cool this week. In some odd effort for gamesmanship, McDaniel has acted as though the Dolphins don't necessarily know who their starter is going to be for this one.

His latest update? More of the same, but we see right through it.

"On the starting QB for Monday – I have in my mind how I think it could play out," McDaniel told reporters. "However it’s a little premature for a multitude of reasons, the very last being the competitive advantage piece."

The Titans shouldn't have much of an issue with Tyler Huntley under center for Miami

After taking over for Lamar Jackson amidst some injuries in Baltimore, once upon a time, Huntley performed admirably. Although, he wasn't other-worldly by any means.

The Titans wouldn't be afraid of Thompson, nor would they be scared of Tim Boyle. But, Huntley shouldn't worry them a whole lot more than either of those two.

We're talking about a quarterback with a career rating of just 79.0 who has never finished with a QBR over 56.0 on the season. Huntley has thrown for over 200 yards in just three career games and has only thrown multiple touchdowns once. This isn't somebody who will worry the Titans in the least bit, especially with only two weeks' time to prepare in a new offense.

Huntley has posed a threat on the ground, at times, with 509 rushing yards in 20 career starts. But, he's no Lamar Jackson. For a Titans defense that's already one of the better units in the league, they should have no problem handling Huntley on Monday night.
