Brian Callahan isn't giving up on Will Levis, yet

As he shouldn't.

The Tennessee Titans are 0-3 and Will Levis has struggled in his first full season as the team's starting quarterback. Levis only had eight incompletions in his start against the Packers while throwing for 260 yards and two touchdowns but he also threw two picks and was sacked eight times.

Following the game, first-year head coach Brian Callahan made it clear that he's sticking with Levis at quarterback. On the topic, Callahan said, "We've also got to play better around him. I'm not going to overreact to an interception. Those things happen, guys throw picks, we just can't give it to their team. It's a killer. But we've not played a complete game in any phase at any point yet."

Callahan is right to pick his quarterback up a bit here. As he noted, the team needs to be better around Levis and the offensive line is included in that. Levis was sacked a whopping eight times on Sunday and that's completely unacceptable. Getting sacked that many times in a game is going to make it hard to win games.

Brian Callahan assures Titans fans that he's sticking with Will Levis

The Titans spent a second-round pick on Levis in the 2023 NFL Draft and he ended up swiping the backup job from Malik Willis during his rookie year. Once Ryan Tannehill was injured, Levis started the final nine games of the year and there was potential there.

Fans were excited to see what Levis could do in the role full-time and so far, it's been rough. That being said, the Titans have a new coaching staff and it's going to take some time for the second-year signal-caller to find his footing and figure things out.

No one realistically expects the Titans to bench Levis this early into the season so Callahan is saying all of the right things here. There are parts of Levis' game that are optimistic, he just needs to cut back on the dumb mistakes so that this team isn't shooting itself in the foot week after week.
