New Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi worked hard to improve the offensive line this offseason in anticipation of Cam Ward's arrival. Borgonzi was aggressive in free agency, signing Dan Moore Jr. to an $82 million contract in free agency to play left tackle. Adding Moore Jr. theoretically improved both tackle spots, with JC Latham sliding over to the right side.

Veteran experience was also secured via right guard Kevin Zeitler. The Titans aren't just relying on outsiders to upgrade the offensive line, however. They also need continued improvement from in-house mainstays. Third-year guard Peter Skoronski is entering a critical year.

Peter Skoronski named Titans' breakout candidate for 2025 season

Skoronski flashed growth as a sophomore throughout 2024 despite Tennessee's struggles up front. The second-year blocker from Northwestern improved in every area, displaying a more patient, technical approach in protection. Pro Football Focus envisions another step forward for Skoronski in 2025, recently naming him a breakout candidate.

"Skoronski took an important step forward in his development in his second year, greatly improving his pass-blocking ability, which pushed him to the seventh-best pass-blocking grade for his position (76.3)," Jonathon Macri wrote. "This was a key improvement from his rookie year when he ranked 30th (63.5). As a former 11th overall pick who was more well-rounded coming out of college, expect Skoronski to improve as a run defender as well this season after ranking just 66th at his position this past season in run defense grade (54.3)."

Skoronski's improved performance in 2024 isn't the only reason to project a career-best year in 2025. It'll represent his second campaign in Brian Callahan's offense, with continuity under legendary position coach Bill Callahan in a familiar scheme. There's also hope that the presence of a veteran left tackle in Moore Jr. will make the left side of Tennessee's offensive line a strength.

The No. 11 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Titans will have to make a decision on Skoronski's fifth-year player option next offseason. Because offensive tackle salaries also impact the fifth-year option for interior blockers, the situation is a bit more complicated than most. But make no mistake, Borgonzi's decision will be directly impacted by Skoronski's form in 2025.

A breakout season from Skoronski in 2025 could secure his long-term future in Tennessee.
