The Tennessee Titans have their quarterback of the future in Cam Ward and now it's time to give him some weapons so he can succeed in Nashville. As of this writing, the Titans' starting wide receivers consists of Van Jefferson, Tyler Lockett, and Calvin Ridley, which isn't exactly a star-studded cast.
While the Titans did add wide receiver help in the draft, that didn't come until the fourth round when they drafted Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike. Needless to say, the Titans could still use some help at the position and one big name might be available for them to swing a trade for.
According to NFL insider James Palmer of Bleacher Report, George Pickens' time in Pittsburgh could finally be coming to an end (as discussed in the video linked on the main NFL page for Bleacher Report). If that's the case and he becomes available via trade, it'd make too much sense for Tennessee to figure out a way to bring him to Nashville.
"[Pickens'] time in Pittsburgh, in a lot of people's minds, is limited -- mine included -- for several reasons," Palmer said. "[The Steelers] don't pay DK Metcalf what you paid him and then pay the other receiver a high-caliber salary. You don't make the trade for DK Metcalf giving up a second [round draft pick] if you're gonna end up giving money to the other receiver. It has not gone well behind the scenes at all between George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers and everybody involved."
Titans’ perfect trade piece might finally be available thanks to insider tip
Palmer continued noting that Pickens could still certainly play for the Steelers in 2025 but said that he'd be leaving Pittsburgh after the season. He also brought up the point that Pittsburgh would have until November to trade Pickens and could receive a compensatory draft pick for him when he eventually departs too.
All of this to say, the Titans make sense as a landing spot for Pickens if a trade ends up happening. He's an unquestioned WR1 and Ward would love to have someone like him at his disposal. The only true worry with Pickens is that he has a flare for the dramatics and tends to get upset when he's not thrown the ball enough. That could be troubling to pair with a rookie quarterback but there's no doubt that Pickens would give Ward the top threat he'll need.
