The Los Angeles Rams finally did what we all knew they were going to do by releasing Cooper Kupp and allowing him to move on to another team. While not many people would probably think of the Tennessee Titans when debating where Kupp goes next, NFL analyst and former quarterback Dan Orlovsky thinks the two could make sense together.
When listing teams Orlovsky thinks should be on the phone with Kupp and/or his agent, the Titans made the cut. While this seems like a fun scenario, the Titans might not be the most appealing destination for a guy like Kupp right now.
For one, they were the worst team in the league a year ago. That led to them landing the first overall pick where, if they hold onto that pick, they'll likely take Cam Ward and reset at the quarterback position. If they trade out of the top spot, the quarterback situation looks even more grim for Tennessee and that wouldn't be very enticing for someone like Kupp.
Dan Orlovsky says Titans should try to sign Cooper Kupp ASAP
While the Titans had a solid receiver group this time a year ago, the same can't be said, as of this writing so Kupp would be a welcomed sight for sure. They'll have Calvin Ridley back and recently signed Van Jefferson but Nick Westbrook-Ikhine bolted for Miami and Tyler Boyd is slated to hit free agency, leaving a void on the offensive side of the ball.
Kupp might not be the same player he was in his prime but he's only entering his age-32 season and still has shown that he has plenty left in the tank when healthy. The 'when healthy' part has been a problem for Kupp in recent years, as he hasn't started a full season since 2021 (when, for the record, he had nearly 2,000 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns).
Last year, Kupp appeared in 12 games and caught 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 59.2 yards per game. He'd be a massive weapon for whoever is quarterbacking the Titans this year but does this team have enough pull to get him to come to Nashville? That remains the big question here.
