You know we're in the final weeks of Draft SZN when the Patrick Mahomes comparisons start showing up.
For the past three months, there's been a constant stream of speculation about what the Titans would do with the #1 overall pick in this year's draft. At first, people though they'd trade it. Then there was the Travis Hunter week. Slowly but surely, it became clear that they were going to take Miami QB Cam Ward, so much so that they cancelled workouts with some of the other top prospects in this year's class.

And now we know why: because he's basically Patrick Mahomes! That's the point that ESPN NFL Analyst Kevin Clark tried to make on Friday morning's episode of 'Get Up.' It, uh, got the internet's attention.
Kevin Clark's Cam Ward comparison is exactly what Titans fans want to hear
"As a prospect, he is the closest thing to Patrick Mahomes since Patrick Mahomes," Clark said.
Foxworth wasn't as convinced.
"He tried to slip in that 'As a prospect' line," he said. "First of all, I'm proud of Kevin. He learned how to do TV with the best of them. Bring up Patrick Mahomes' name, if you can, at any point in the preceedings. The problem with making the Patrick Mahomes comparison is that you know what that conjurs in our mind. I know Patrick Mahomes, as a prospect, wasn't the #1 overall pick. However, when you start saying that name, we have expectations of being one of the greatest quarterbacks we've ever seen ... there's a thin line between Patrick Mahomes and, like, Will Levis, who also does some improv stuff that doesn't turn out quite as well. So I think assuming it's all going to translate for every single player is wild."
Honestly? I'm in. Whatever. There's going to be a time in the future when Titans fans have to reconcile with the fact that Ward is, in fact, not Patrick Mahomes – no one is – so untill then, they may as well live it up. If expectations aren't through the roof right now, when will they be? Foxworth is absolutely right about every point he makes, but that's a September problem. For now, the Titans are about to draft the next Patrick Mahomes. Good thing they didn't trade down.
