The 3-12 Tennessee Titans have two games remaining in their 2025 season. Sunday's 26-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was an all-around impressive performance. General manager Mike Borgonzi will continue evaluating the roster before making sizable offseason decisions.

Tight end Chig Okonkwo has arguably been rookie quarterback Cam Ward's most consistent target this season. The former Maryland standout has produced team-highs in receptions (51) and receiving yards (503) through 15 games. Okonkwo has been his usual reliable self, making several plays for Ward on Sunday.

Okonkwo is also the Titans' most notable pending free agent. Borgonzi seemingly hasn't made any efforts to sign Okonkwo to a contract extension during the season, and he garnered some buzz at the trade deadline. With the uncertainty of the offseason starting to loom large, the four-year pro could be reaching the end of his road in Nashville.

Could this be Chig Okonkwo's last season with the Titans?

Borgonzi inherited Okonkwo from the Jon Robinson regime. That should matter little in the debate whether or not to re-sign him, but it's worth acknowledging because Borgonzi has been busy placing his thumbprints on this roster. The Titans traded cornerback Roger McCreary, also on an expiring contract, for similar reasons.

Borgonzi also drafted a potential replacement in tight end Gunnar Helm. Helm has been excellent as a rookie when afforded opportunities to make an impact on offense. The two are capable of co-existing in an offense, especially in a league that's seemingly getting heavier in personnel usage again.

Spotrac doesn't have a market value prediction for Okonkwo, but they estimate Cade Otton signing a contract worth $11.8 million per season. Both were drafted in 2022. Okonkwo currently has more receiving yards than Otton (445) does this season, and has consistently outproduced him throughout his career.

Okonkwo has been a consistent playmaker for the Titans. With two contests remaining in 2025, his future is one of the larger questions heading into the offseason. There's no guarantee Okonkwo returns to Tennessee in 2026, but the Titans should strongly consider re-signing him.
