Jeffery Simmons says the quiet part out loud about the Titans' coaching search

Good advice.

There's no polite way to say this so I'm just going to come out and say it: The Tennessee Titans are a mess. They've been a mess for a few years now and now just two years after booting Mike Vrabel out the door, the Titans are already looking for another head coach to try and right the ship.

It won't be an easy task for whoever takes over, as this team has a lot of problems to work out. That being said, Jeffery Simmons is at least putting the heat on the front office to ensure they find the right guy capable of turning things around in Nashville.

After the Titans got beat up by the division rival Jaguars, causing them to drop to 1-10 on the year, Simmons spoke to the media and talked about the head coach search. He didn't hold back either, saying something that everyone already knew but it bears repeating for sure.

"We have to have somebody that is going to change the culture around here when they hire the new coach," Simmons said.

Jeffery Simmons drops a blunt truth about the Titans coaching search

Simmons hit the nail on the head here. While I said it'll be tough to turn this Titans team around given all of the problems they have, it's not impossible. Just look at the Bears and the Patriots this year. Both were entering Year 2 with their quarterbacks and hired head coaches, which, in turn, has helped those teams become serious contenders.

Cam Ward might be one of the least-talked about first overall picks but the Titans still took him first overall for a reason. Clearly, they believe he can lead this team to bigger and brighter things and now it's time to find a head coach that can bring out the best in Ward and his game.

Brian Callahan clearly wasn't it and the Titans recognized that quickly and moved on when it was clear it wasn't going to work. Moving on from Callahan was an easy decision but the hard part is now doing exactly what Simmons said, which is finding a culture-changer. If the Titans can do that, things could turn around quickly but it obviously won't be an easy task.
