The Tennessee Titans entered the 2026 NFL Draft with a couple of extra picks at their disposal. Clearly stuck in a mulit-year rebuild midway through the 2025 season, general manager Mike Borgonzi struck a few trades near the NFL deadline to acquire extra capital. One of the bigger deals saw the Titans send veteran pass rusher Dre'Mont Jones to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick.

Had the Ravens made the playoffs, and Jones reached certain sack incentives, the Titans would have received a fourth-round selection. Jones held up his end, but the Ravens lost a win-and-in Week 18 game to division rival Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans received the original fifth-round pick as a result.

The pick ended up being the 142nd selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. Despite all the wheeling and dealing, the Titans held onto the pick and drafted former Arkansas interior offensive lineman Fernando Carmona. As a result, the Jones trade has officially been finalized.

Titans Dre'Mont Jones trade with Ravens is finally completed

Titans received:

  • No. 144 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft (Fernando Carmona, IOL, Arkansas)

Ravens received:

  • Dre'Mont Jones

Carmona is joining a Titans team thin on quality interior offensive linemen. As currently constructed, inexperienced sophomore Jackson Slater, and veteran journeymen additions Cordell Volson and Austin Schlottmann are competing to start at right guard and center. The Titans also drafted former Indiana center Pat Coogan on Day 3. Carmona and Coogan will enter camp believing they can compete for roles, given the lack of exciting talent in front of them.

Meanwhile Jones has since left the Ravens. He was on an expiring one-year contract when the Titans traded him. He signed a contract with the New England Patriots in free agency, where he'll now play for former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

Jones is a productive veteran, but the rebuilding Titans knew he wasn't in their long-term plans. Borgonzi was wise to flip him at the deadline for draft capital. Hopefully Carmona develops into a multi-year contributor for an interior offensive line that needs upgrades next to left guard Peter Skoronski.
