Nicholas Petit-Frere is among the bigger NFL Draft busts in recent Tennessee Titans memory. Before they drafted JC Latham to secure the right tackle position, the Titans had to suffer through several busts, Dillon Radunz included. Petit-Frere is now with the Washington Commanders, and he already looks like a dud signing for his new team.
The Titans admitted defeat on Petit-Frere after his third season, deciding to cut bait before his rookie contract ends. The former third-round pick briefly landed with the San Francisco 49ers, but was released less than one month later. Petit-Frere joined the Commanders earlier this month, and is attempting to make their 53-man roster.
Petit-Frere recently went viral for a terrible preseason rep. It led to the first strip-sack of Derrick Moore's career, as the Detroit Lions rookie beat Petit-Frere around the edge for a game-changing play. It was a sight all too familiar for Titans fans.

Former Tennessee Titans OT Nicholas Petit-Frere already looks like a bust signing for the Washington Commanders
Pro Football Focus has credited Petit-Frere with allowing three quarterback pressures in limited preseason action. In that game versus the Lions, he was tagged with a lackluster pass-blocking grade of 46.5. It doesn't sound like Petit-Frere has gotten better since leaving Tennessee.
The Titans are currently dealing with depth issues of their own at offensive tackle. There does not appear to be a reliable option available behind starters Latham and Dan Moore Jr. They've held an uninspiring position battle between veteran Austin Deculus and sophomore Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson.
General manager Mike Borgonzi would be wise to search through the leftovers after cutdown day (August 30th) to see if an upgrade is available. There's an excellent chance that Petit-Frere is going to be released by the Commanders. Not that the Titans should possess any interest in a reunion.
Deculus was left off our recent 53-man roster projection. Crenshaw-Dickson appears to have some developmental potential, but trusting him to play regular-season snaps without hampering the offense would require a real leap of faith. Borgonzi must approach the situation with caution.
Watching Petit-Frere flop with the Commanders is a reminder of how difficult the offensive tackle position is to address. The Titans have gotten better since releasing the third-round bust, but they still aren't totally settled, with both depth and maybe a long-term successor for Moore needed. Petit-Frere has not improved since his Titans release.
