ESPN proposes ridiculous Titans-Jaguars trade that would never happen

What are we doing here?

Of all offseason priorities, the Tennessee Titans must address the quarterback position.

Also, water is wet.

The 2025 NFL Draft goes through Tennessee, this year, though, which makes things interesting for this franchise. Owning the top pick, the Titans could go a multitude of different routes.

Will they go quarterback?

On Thursday's episode of ESPN's "First Take," former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky and Stephen A. Smith were talking about the Titans owning the no. 1 pick in this year's draft and debating this very same topic.

Within that conversation, of course, included the topic that Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders may not be worthy of that top pick. But, maybe Travis Hunter is.

On the topic of quarterback, though, Orlovsky thought he had figured out the answer to Tennessee's problem.

Dan Orlovsky thinks the Titans should trade for Trevor Lawrence

"I have the solution. If I were the Titans I would call the Jacksonville Jaguars and try to trade for Trevor Lawrence," Orlovsky said.

"If I was Trevor Lawrence I would want the absolute heck out of Jacksonville," he noted.

Orlovsky went on to talk about how he hasn't exactly done his homework on Sanders or Ward just yet:

"I haven't studied Shedeur and Cam [Ward] well enough to make a definitive statement on where exactly I think they might be or whatnot."

More Titans news:

One thing is abundantly clear: Not only has Orlovsky not done his homework on the two top quarterback prospects, but he also hasn't done his homework on Trevor Lawrence's contract situation.

If the Jaguars were to trade Lawrence before June 1 of this year, they'd incur $100 million in dead cap. That's more than enough reason for the Jaguars to stand pat with Lawrence, for now.

On the flip side, why on earth would the Titans want to take on that contract if they had an opportunity to snag a quarterback on his rookie deal? Good luck selling that idea to new general manager Mike Borgonzi. There's not a chance he'd go for such a preposterous trade.

None of this makes sense in the least bit. Sure, Lawrence would probably love to get out of Jacksonville after what's happened there with Trent Baalke and the dysfunction within the building. But, there is no feasible way it can happen without huge financial ramifications.

Oh, and by the way, this is a trade within the division to top it all off. That's not happening.

The Titans are better off fielding offers for the top pick and seeing if they could maybe even move down just a couple of picks while still ending up with a quarterback, if that is indeed the route they prefer to go. Otherwise, if Hunter is the best player in the draft according to Borgonzi, then stay put and grab him.
