Rumors of a Dallas Cowboys trade-up have been circulating for weeks now, and Tennessee Titans fans have been keeping a close eye on it as we approach the 2026 NFL Draft.

Mike Borgonzi has made good headway into this rebuild by adding various capable starters over the previous two offseasoms, not including some promising draft picks who could get to that point quickly.

Despite that progress, Titans fans have their ears perked up anytime a trade rumor involving them comes up, because this franchise still has more than a few holes to fill if they want to be competitive. However, a report recently surfaced that changes how fans should look at this information, because the Titans could benefit greatly even without being the team that makes the deal with the Cowboys.

This tweet says a lot of things at once. First, it reinforces the fact that the Cowboys want to trade up, and it suggests they are willing to use both of their first-round picks to do it. It also mentions they want to get ahead of the New York Giants, who pick at No. 5, which narrows their potential list of trade candidates to the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and Titans.

The most important part is the other part of that tweet where Schultz says the Cowboys are "targeting a player that the Giants also covet." That is huge news because do you know what the Giants don't need? An EDGE.

With Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Abdul Carter in the mix at EDGE, the Giants are much more likely to target Jeremiyah Love, Caleb Downs, or Sonny Styles, all of whom make sense for the Cowboys as well.

If all things are equal, the Cowboys will probably try to trade all the way up to #3 with the Cardinals, which means the Titans would miss out on the massive trade haul. However, that would actually be good news for Mike Borgonzi because that trade-up would guarantee that either David Bailey or (more likely) Arvell Reese would fall into the Titans' lap at No. 4.

There is a lot of smoke around this trade, and if Jerry Jones really does want to make a splash on draft day, the Titans would be the clear winners, no matter who the Cowboys end up trading up with.
