The Tennessee Titans almost saw Cam Ward lead a comeback drive against a very good Houston Texans defense, but their charge ultimately ended in a 16-13 loss that dropped the team to 1-9 on the season. To make matters worse, wide receiver Calvin Ridley is hurt.
Ridley suffered a lower leg injury so severe that he needed to be carted off the field. Interim head coach Mike McCoy wasted no time in confirming that the worst-case scenario did indeed come true for Ridley and the Titans' offense.
Ridley has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a broken fibula. An already thin wide receiver room around Ward is now going to be even more difficult to watch, as Ridley was the one player the Titans can trust to consistently get open against more experienced defenses.
Titans WR Calvin Ridley out for rest of 2025 with broken leg
Ridley came into this game with just 16 catches and zero touchdowns on the season. Part of this is due to his own performance, part of it is Ward going through regular rookie growing pains, and part of it is the coaching staff giving new meaning to the meaning of the word dysfunction.
Ridley is not only out for the rest of the season, but there is a very good chance that he has played his last snap as a Titan. Ridley is still owed a ton of money in the offseason, and it seems incredibly unlikely that a team in rebuild mode like Tennessee will let Ridley waste away like this.
With Ridley out, look for a pair of fourth-round rookies in the more physical Elic Ayomanor and the speedier Chimere Dike to get even more targets from Ward. Van Jefferson and Mason Kinsey managed to receive some snaps in this game due to Ridley's injury, so they might factor into the picture.
2025 has been another nauseating season for Titans fans, and Ridley's injury is the latest insult for a team that has a very real chance of not winning a game in the rest of the campaign. Ward and Ridley could have given the offense some juice down the stretch, but that pairing has evaporated to dust.
