Training camp is swiftly approaching and there is excitement surrounding the Tennessee Titans again. Cam Ward appears primed to continue growing into a franchise quarterback. The impressive additions made around Ward, including to the coaching staff, provides reasons for optimism.
General manager Mike Borgonzi wanted to increase competition at training camp this offseason. The roster is not a finished product yet, but Borgonzi spent a league-leading amount of money in free agency to accelerate the rebuilding process. Combine that with eight draft picks, and the roster has investments all over.
The Titans will be closely examining all position battles throughout training camp and the preseason. Roster spots are quite literally on the line. Tennessee can't afford another 3-14 campaign, or anything similar. With this in mind, we've identified five Titans fringe-roster players who could make tricky choices difficult to predict before Week 1.

Michael Carter - Titans RB
The Titans signed running back Michael Carter to a one-year contract earlier this offseason. It's a crowded position room as is. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are the lead backs. Nicholas Singleton is a rookie, and Julius Chestnut and Kalel Mullings are the holdovers. Carter is the only back that previously played for new head coach Robert Saleh. He's dynamic and shifty, and could force a tough decision.
Xavier Restrepo - Titans WR
Xavier Restrepo became a fan favorite the moment the Titans signed him in undrafted free agency last year, reuniting him with Cam Ward. He didn't make the initial 53-man roster as a rookie, but earned a midseason call-up and some playing time with Ward. This offseason, Restrepo will try to push the likes of Bryce Oliver for the sixth and possibly final receiver spot.
Aamil Wagner - Titans OT
The Titans do not have proven depth at swing offensive tackle. There's a concerning lack of experienced talent behind starters Dan Moore and JC Latham. Borgonzi signed former Notre Dame tackle Aamil Wagner to a pretty lucrative contract in undrafted free agency. Right now, Wagner is competing with the likes of Ryan Hayes, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, and Austin Deculus for the backup role. Perhaps another addition is coming.
Dorian Mausi - Titans LB
Rookie linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. is expected to push veteran Cody Barton for playing time at training camp. The Titans also have Cedric Gray, who set the franchise's single-season tackle record in 2025. Holdover Dorian Mausi is competing for a spot with James Williams, Mohamoud Diabate, and a bunch of undrafted rookies. Mausi made a positive impression on the new coaching staff during offseason workouts.
Bishop Fitzgerald - Titans S
Rookie undrafted safety Bishop Fitzgerald had five interceptions at USC last season. The Titans have a clear top three at safety in Amani Hooker, Tony Adams, and Kevin Winston Jr. Any additional safety spots are totally up for grabs at training camp. Fitzgerald is talented enough to make the 53-man roster if he can prove valuable on special teams.
