5 Titans nearing important defensive milestones in 2024

The Tennessee Titans' defense has been the stronger unit throughout the majority of a disappointing 2024 season. Brian Callahan's offense hasn't held up its end of the bargain. With three games remaining, five of Dennard Wilson's defenders are closing in on statistical milestones.

Harold Landry

The longest-tenured player on the Titans' roster started the season on fire, but Harold Landry's production has dipped as the team got less and less competitive. After a strip sack last week that resulted in T'Vondre Sweat's electric fumble return, it's time to rekindle hope that Landry might finish with his third straight double-digit sack season (excluding the year when he tore his ACL a week before the season).

Landry just needs two sacks over the last three games to achieve that. It's a realistic goal for the former Pro Bowler, who is a potential offseason cap casualty if he doesn't close out the season well.

Arden Key

Speaking of EDGEs chasing double-digit sacks, Arden Key is 3.5 sacks away from reaching that landmark. That goal seems almost unattainable, but remember that he did have a two-sack game this season against the Detroit Lions. Tennessee's last three games are against AFC South opponents, and they've all struggled to protect their quarterbacks this season.

Kenneth Murray

Kenneth Murray has endured an up-and-down season, but he's on track to break a franchise record set by legend Keith Bulluck nearly 20 years ago. With four more tackles for loss, Murray will have more TFLs than any Titans linebacker, surpassing seasons previously put forth by defenders like Jayon Brown, David Long, and Azeez Al-Shaair.

Jeffery Simmons

Going back to the trenches, Jeffery Simmons has had a down year when it comes to sacks, but he is just two TFLs away from tying a career-high. His arm injury has been holding him back a little bit down the stretch, but he and Sweat have been a disruptive duo in the middle of the field and we expect Simmons to reach his TFLs milestone before the year is finished.

Amani Hooker

Amani Hooker is the only Titans defender who has played at a Pro Bowl level this season. With four interceptions, he's already tied his career-high record for picks in a season, and if he gets another one, he will be the second player in the last decade to have five-plus interceptions in a season. The other one is the great Kevin Byard, who achieved thtatfeat three times in his illustrious career with the Titans.
