Currently, Will Levis is the only quarterback on the Tennessee Titans' roster, but that won't be the case for long with free agency officially opening next week.
While most fans are focused on whether the Titans will draft Miami's Cam Ward or trade the first pick, it seems like that decision won't be made until the team sees where the chips fall in free agency.
The Titans are going into free agency with trade leverage after Matthew Stafford decided to stay with the L.A. Rams instead of going to the Las Vegas Raiders or New York Giants. That means that at least one of those teams will be interested in jumping ahead of the Cleveland Browns to get their quarterback via the 2025 NFL Draft.
All of that is intriguing and important for the future of the Titans, but while the franchise watches the trade market take shape, they also have to address the quarterback position themselves. There is no shortage of rumors around what the Titans will do, but these are the five quarterbacks with the strongest rumors or connections to the team as we head into this pivotal week on the NFL calendar.
1. Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold is a divisive topic. If the Titans sign him and he reaches his ceiling in Nashville, he could have an Alex Smith-like impact on the franchise, and that is something that could be part of Mike Borgonzi's blueprint for the future.
According to ESPN, Darnold is a potential target for the Titans. In a joint article from Titans beat writer Turron Davenport and ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, they provided this sourced rumor: "Tennessee will have some interest if Darnold hits free agency. But that's only at the right price -- in the $30 million per year range, according to a team source."
The Vikings decided against using the franchise tag on Darnold, lowering their chances of retaining him prior to free agency. Darnold could be a high-level bridge option in Tennessee while they play the long game on drafting their next rookie quarterback.
2. Aaron Rodgers
For weeks, the potential connection between the Titans and Aaron Rodgers has been brought up. As teams start to narrow down their quarterback options, it seems like Rodgers is on the outside looking in for various potential suitors. That was essentially confirmed when Matthew Berry mentioned the Titans and Giants as the most likely destinations for Rodgers (twice).
3. Justin Fields
There have been rumors that the Titans could be a landing spot for Justin Fields since the middle of the season, but most of that was just common sense and connecting the dots, with the Titans potentially in the market for a veteran bridge QB. Fans had nothing to go on other than that until the infamous Slick Rick mentioned the Titans as one of three options for Fields.
4. Derek Carr
Kellen Moore, the new head coach for the New Orleans Saints, seems to like Derek Carr, so it looks like he isn't hitting the open market. At least, that is what everyone thought until Ian Rapoport reignited rumors of a potential Carr cut after the NFL Combine. Brian Callahan was his position coach with the Oakland Raiders, and Rapoport mentioned the Titans by name when listing some landing spots for the strong-armed veteran QB if he's cut.
5. Kirk Cousins
The Atlanta Falcons have said they don't plan on moving on from Kirk Cousins, but that hasn't stopped NFL insiders and people in the know from projecting him as a potential option for the Browns.
However, what if the Browns don't go in that direction and focus all their attention on one of the rookie quarterbacks? If that happens, Cousins would be a natural fit for the Titans as a bridge quarterback. This was a popular theory and projection a month ago, but things have gotten quiet...for now.
