Lamar Miller, Running Back

The Titans top two running backs are set in stone after handing Derrick Henry an extension this offseason and drafting Darryton Evans in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Henry has been a workhorse for the Titans offense and led the team to their first AFC Championship berth in nearly two decades, so his place at the top is unquestioned.

While the 2019 NFL rushing leader is a phenomenal running back, his impact in the passing game has been limited. Henry has not been a great 3rd down option for the Titans, and while he still has home run ability, the Titans may not want to run him into the ground this year.

The team let a disappointing Dion Lewis go after being unable to be impactful in third downs for the team. Evans has awesome speed and playmaking ability in the open field to help the team in third downs or long-yardage situations.

However, Evans seems to have struggled in camp holding onto the ball, which is a big concern for a running back.

If the Titans want to find a more reliable backup, the team should go after Lamar Miller. Miller has a proven track record in the NFL as a pass-catching running back who can stretch the defense for the Titans. While Miller has been hurt for the past two years, he should add good depth behind Henry.

In his career, Miller has over 5,000 yards rushing and 1,500 yards catching in his seven-year career. Miller is not a necessity for the Titans but he can provide a little more consistency in the backfield on necessary downs while Evans grows more accustomed to the NFL game.
