Does Jadeveon Clowney even want to for the Titans or Saints?

Jadeveon Clowney frustrates teams.

We are less than a week away from the first game of the 2020 NFL season between the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs, but somehow Jadeveon Clowney still remains unsigned.

Earlier in the offseason, Clowney reportedly turned down an offer from the Cleveland Browns that ranged from $17-18 million per year. Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, while on 102.5 The Game, said that the Titans are frustrated by “lack of engagement” from Clowney.

This isn’t a shock to anyone though, because Jadeveon Clowney’s asking price has fluctuated all offseason.

To start the offseason the bidding was supposed to start at $20 million. After a month of no one biting on that, it reportedly dropped to $17-18 million.

Funny enough, that is exactly what he turned down from the Browns. Clowney claims that he wants to be on a Super Bowl contender, but an argument could be made for the Browns if you added Clowney to the defense.

Remember, at that time the thinking was that the Browns would pair Clowney up with Myles Garrett, sign both for multiple years, then trade Olivier Vernon. On paper that would have been an amazing move for Cleveland, but they got so frustrated with his lack of interest that they quickly cut off talks.

Does Jadeveon Clowney even want to play football in 2020?

According to Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report, teams interested in Jadeveon Clowney couldn’t even get him to speak to them on the phone. Now rumors are coming out that players and coaches are reaching out to Clowney, but those rumors fly in the face of everything we have heard.

More from Titan Sized

Jadeveon Clowney is absolutely not going to get more than a one year prove it deal from anyone. He has reportedly turned down several $12 million dollar deals on top of the huge deal from the Cleveland Browns.

It is beginning to feel like he doesn’t want to play football at all during this upcoming season.

Yannick Ngakoue sort of threw a wrench in Clowney’s plans to get $17 million. Ngakoue took $5 million less to get out of Jacksonville and play with the Minnesota Vikings during the upcoming season. Of course, the discount will probably be paid back to Ngakoue through a much larger deal for upcoming seasons, but the $12 million deal this season hurts Clowney’s plans.

If the former 1st overall pick is going to play in 2020 it is not going to be for much more than $12 million on a prove-it deal.

Whether or not he wants that is beyond me, and even after the New Orleans Saints started making a push for him (who were supposed to be one of his “dream teams” ) there has been no rumors from him, just more information that seems to be leaked from the teams.

To me, it is not crazy to ask the question of whether or not he wants to play at all this season. It seems to me like it would be in his best interest, but there is no telling what is going through his mind at this point.

If the Saints and Titans stop chasing him, I don’t know that any team is going to muster up the interest to make a move at his asking price.
