Tennessee Titans will allow you to fill Nissan Stadium with Matt Neely cut outs
By Will Lomas
Titans fans can honor superfan Matt Neely.
I am not going to tell Tennessee Titans fans how to spend their money, but I will heavily suggest that you spend some of it like this.
Let me start at the beginning. If by some chance you don’t know who Matt Neely is then there is no way for me to accurately describe his presence on social media. He was a seemingly unending source of memes and quotes for Titans fans to latch on to and he was really the first Titans fan to have an online presence whether the team was good or bad.
That may seem a little bit ambiguous or hard to relate to, but something more tangible is that he helped produce and create the Bussin with the Boys podcast. One of the first notable podcasts hosted by active players in the NFL who weren’t being “handled” by a co-host who was really the show organizer.
It also was the first real representation of the Titans that people outside of Tennessee really latched onto.
Fast forward to last week when the franchise told fans that they wouldn’t be allowing fans in the building until October at the earliest. That was disappointing, but it wasn’t unexpected even though I would have preferred a clear message from local government explaining why bars on Broadway were allowed to operate over capacity without enforcing patrons to wear masks, but filling a massive stadium to just 15% or 20% capacity was impossible even with strict safety standards.
But I digress.
So, when the Titans contacted season ticket holders to say that they would allow you to buy up to 10 cutouts to put in the stands for the Jacksonville Jaguars game, there was immediately one question that came to my mind:
And in less than an hour, Titans’ social media guru Nate Bain and the fine folks at HANG TN had the perfect answer ready for the fans.
Again, I am not telling you how to spend your money, but I will say that I think it would be awesome to see a stadium full of Matt Neely cutouts when the Tennessee Titans play their first game of the season.
What makes it even more fitting is that this game is against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which was probably the team that Neely hated more than anyone else. That was clear last year when the Titans made a touching decision to allow his long time girlfriend Chelsea Hornsby to be the 12th Titan before last year’s home matchup against the Jaguars.
I’ll end this
