Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be Titans most exciting preseason matchup
Playing Tampa Bay will be the Tennessee Titans most exciting preseason matchup.
The Tennessee Titans will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 3 of the upcoming preseason. Week 3 is already one of the most exciting weeks of the NFL season considering it is usually when the starters play for the longest amount of time during the game. The matchup comes at 6 pm central time on Saturday, August 29th.
Titans fans will get a peek at what they could’ve had in a quarterback when they travel to Tampa Bay to play Tom Brady. Rumors surrounding Tom Brady joining the Titans were at their peak early in the offseason. Many fans sided with Brady rather than Ryan Tannehill, who played well for the Tennessee Titans last season. This game will provide a good look for fans as to whether or not the Titans made the right choice in quarterbacks.
Perhaps one of the most exciting factors of the game will be to see how the Titans defense holds up versus the high powered Tampa Bay passing attack. Will the improved depth on the EDGE help to put pressure on Tom Brady, forcing him to make bad throws? Or will Brady pick the defense apart? Will rookie CB Kristian Fulton be able to hold his own against some of Tampa Bay’s best weapons? I for one think the Tennessee Titans defense will reign supreme and shut down Tampa Bay while the starters are in.
This game will be huge in the decision of who will start at right tackle going forward. Both Isaiah Wilson and Dennis Kelly will have a chance to prove themselves against impressive pass rushers such as Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul. In my opinion, Wilson is much better than Kelly in pass protection, but he still needs to prove himself in the run game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best run defenses in the NFL last season, so Wilson will have a chance to show that he has improved.
Some predictions
While it is only a preseason game, I think the Titans will prove that they are the real deal by once again beating Tom Brady. The Titans’ defense, which has gotten much more athletic and younger, will make Tom Brady look as if he came to Tampa Bay to retire peacefully.
Kristian Fulton will make it known that teams shouldn’t have passed on him in the draft. I predict that he will finish the game with at least one interception and this game will spark talks about him as a dark horse candidate for defensive rookie of the year.
Isaiah Wilson will win the starting job at right tackle and won’t look back. The Tampa Bay game in the preseason will be the game that Wilson shows he is the clear cut choice to start at right tackle.
