Rounds 4 and 5

In rounds 4 and 5, the Tennessee Titans had the 107th and 142nd overall pick.

Original picks – Brian Schwenke C Cal and Lavar Edwards DE LSU

Brian Schwenke from California played with the Titans until 2017. By no means was he terrible for a 4th round pick, but the 2013 NFL Draft oozed with late-round talent. As far as value and draft position go, Schwenke was one of the better selections in 2013 for the Titans.

Lavar Edwards was nothing but a disappointment for the Titans. Luckily he was selected in the 5th round so expectations were slightly low anyways. Edwards played one season with the Titans and recorded just 9 measly tackles. He didn’t quite fill the Titans hole but I think there was a player selected later in the draft that could have done just that.

Who they should have picked – Micah Hyde SS Iowa and Chris Jones DT Bowling Green

As I mentioned earlier the Tennessee Titans signed Bernard Pollard in 2013 but Micah Hyde is a great talent for a 4th round draft pick. Hyde has 16 career interceptions and has even been named to a Pro Bowl during his time in the NFL. If the Tennessee Titans were to have drafted Hyde, the could have saved money in free agency by not having to sign Pollard.

No, not Chris Jones from the Chiefs, but Chris Jones from Bowling Green was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 6th round. He didn’t have a long successful career but he showed potential early. In his first season he had 6 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. Jones could have been a short term plug in on the inside of the defensive line, and at a cheap cost too in the 5th round.
