Tennessee Titans likely make a mistake in 2020 NFL Draft with Isaiah Wilson
By Will Lomas
With the 29th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select…
It is hard to imagine the draft board falling any better for the Tennessee Titans unless they potentially wanted to trade back for a team looking to move up for Jordan Love.
But, let’s talk about what the Titans did and not what they could have done in an alternate timeline.
Who did they draft?
Isaiah Wilson RT, UGA. You may know him from fan tweets about how much they would hate drafting Wilson or from how poorly he fits into the Titans offense.
The two-year starter at right tackle for Georgia was considered a mid to late Day 2 pick for much of the season, but he shot up draft boards once people realized that there was going to be an early run on offensive tackles.
Where does he fit?
Wilson has major technique issues and he struggles a lot with speed rushers so when he gets in camp it wouldn’t surprise me if the Titans took a step back and realized he needs to be on the bench or possibly compete at right guard for a year until he can hopefully refine his technique.

-A.J. Epenesa DL/EDGE, Iowa
-Marlon Davidson DL/EDGE, Auburn
Who I would have drafted?
Literally anyone else basically.
Not to bash this pick too much because I know fans are probably upset but everything about this feels like a player who was part of a good unit in college, but whose individual efforts were lacking. He does fill the Jon Robinson mantra of a guy who isn’t a projection and who has experience at the position he will play at the next level, but everything else screams bust.
I’ll leave you with this, Wilson struggled to refine his technique with one of the best offensive line coaches either at the NFL or college level and now the Titans are asking him to come in with the expectations of a 1st round pick and refine himself under Keith Carter with no offseason.
