Green Bay Packers desire for QB makes Titans a prime trade candidate

Tennessee Titans draft position just became more valuable.

There aren’t a lot of good things about drafting 29th in the 2020 NFL Draft, but one positive is how easy it will be for the Tennessee Titans to trade out of the pick if they don’t like the way the board falls.

Usually, this happens when a team wants a quarterback that they can keep on a 5th-year option to make absolutely sure that the guy you are about to give hundreds of millions of dollars to is actually worth the money.

Tennessee Titans fans just saw this with Marcus Mariota and the NFL as a whole saw the benefits of trading back into the first round for a project quarterback when the Baltimore Ravens did it a few years ago to land Lamar Jackson.

By now teams are starting to leak out that they are interested in trading up or down, but one team that is very interesting for the Titans is the team right below them: Green Bay. Let me tell you why.

Matt Miller said earlier this week that the Green Bay Packers are content with taking a QB at 30, but they wouldn’t make a move up for one:

More from Titan Sized

"Could Green Bay Packers draft a quarterback in Round 1? Yes, but it isn’t seen as a major need headed into the draft. Instead, this would be a perfect-world scenario, like when Aaron Rodgers fell into their laps in 2005. Rodgers wasn’t a dire need, but the team was starting to think about life after Brett Favre or at least developing a quality backup behind him. It stands to reason that the Packers will take a few swings of the bat to find their successor to Rodgers, just like when they added Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn back in 2008."

The Packers have just announced themselves as the floor for project QB Jordan Love, and that means that if you want Love for yourself then you better have a higher pick than the Packers at 30. Or at least, trade for a pick above 30.

With the new floor set, the Titans are now the last chance for teams to trade up if they want the chance to groom and develop Love. Even if it doesn’t make the pick any more valuable, it does make it enticing for teams to call about and discuss trades.
