The Tennessee Titans aren’t sitting on their hands with less than 100 hours until real free agency.

Earlier today I commented on the Tennessee Titans release of Dion Lewis, but there was no official report about it which was curious.

That all made sense a few hours later when the Titans put out an article on their moves for the day, but by the title you know that there was more than one move made by the team today.

After signing a one-year deal disguised as a three year deal last season, Tennessee has moved on from veteran pass rusher Cameron Wake.

Last year the move made sense because the Titans needed some more juice in their pass rush, but Tennessee needs all the cap space they can get and if you are going to roll the dice somewhere it makes sense to let your 38 year old DPR walk and give a young guy like Derick Roberson a shot.

You may also notice that Tennessee agreed to terms with Chris Milton after reportedly cutting him yesterday.

That was always weird because Milton was a free agent any way so maybe we should have all guessed that whoever put that information out there either misread a text or a memo.

After the moves the Titans now have more depth at cornerback even though Milton is definitely going to make his money as a special teams star. Still, when you are losing three of your top five cornerbacks to free agency, you can’t this as a win.

If you are looking down the road, these moves leave Tennessee with roughly $60 million in cap space heading into free agency and two of the big four potential cuts are now gone.

With more money to be made with just a few cuts, it is interesting to note that the next cuts are either going to be so big that they warrant their own posts or they still haven’t been decided on yet.

Stay tuned as things ramp up heading into this weekend.
