The Tennessee Titans might be in the market for a starting quarterback in 2020, so should they consider Andy Dalton?

With Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton being benched by the team this week in favor of backup rookie, Ryan Finley, Dalton should be on the market in 2020 when the Tennessee Titans figure to be looking for a quarterback.

Of course, the Titans’ search could begin and end with current quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who will have the rest of the 2019 season to audition for Tennessee’s starting job in 2020.

Should Tannehill fail in his audition, it’ll be back to the drawing board for the Titans, who could look to the 2020 NFL Draft and/or free agency for their next signal-caller.

In an article by Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon, he gives a list of teams that could sign Dalton in 2020, and of course he names the Titans as one of those teams.

"Tennessee Titans, who look to be done with walk-year quarterback Marcus Mariota and might not want to tie their future to failed former Miami Dolphin Ryan Tannehill. Tennessee is 4-4 right now and might not pick high enough to reel in one of the draft’s big fish."

Dalton will be 33 next season and has put together a decent career in Cincinnati. If the Titans are looking for a veteran quarterback who can step right in and make them competitive, Dalton wouldn’t be the worst choice they could go with.

He’d be walking into a win-now situation with the championship-caliber defense the Titans own, and Dalton would have a slew of intriguing weapons to throw to. Unfortunately, those weapons haven’t been utilized nearly enough in 2019.

On the flip side, if Tennessee is fortunate enough to land one of the better quarterbacks in next year’s draft, Dalton could serve as the stop-gap signal-caller to bridge the Titans into the future while their rookie gets his feet wet.

If the Tannehill era ends after Week 17 of this season, the Titans will have a lot of options at quarterback to sort through next offseason, and Dalton should definitely be one option Tennessee considers.
