Loser: Dean Pees, DC

Alright, I mean this with the utmost respect for maybe the greatest DC that the Tennessee Titans have ever had, but I don’t get what happened in the last 7 minutes of the game.

The Titans are notorious for pulling off the gas when they get a lead which often comes back to bite them. It happens on offense and it happens on defense, though there is rarely enough slack allowed for the defense to take too much time off.

More from Titan Sized

When the Titans were still up 10 points with 7 minutes left, Pees had the defense back way off and Philip Rivers did what a Hall of Fame QB should do. Rivers continued to hit Hunter Henry over the middle of the field and complete 10 yard chunks and Pees seemed content to let them march down and get in the redzone before changing anything up.

The only problem is that before that could happen the Chargers threw a bomb to Austin Ekeler and score turning a game that the Titans controlled, into a game that ultimately came down to the very last play.

Pees is amazing. He is one of the best DCs in the NFL and top-3 feels right, but for an elite coach to have that kind of breakdown is tough to see and it almost cost him a whole game’s worth of good calls in under 7 minutes
