Tennessee Titans make a move at kicker.

The Tennessee Titans had to cut Cairo Santos after Sunday’s nightmare against the Buffalo Bills.

You never want to put a loss all on one player, but it is really hard to justify leaving 12 points on the field in a game where that would have given the team a 19-14 win. Even if he was average yesterday the offense gave him enough opportunities to miss one and still come out on top.

However, after that it is safe to assume that confidence was going to be an issue going forward regardless of what was said after the game in interviews.

It is good to see that the front office and coaches weren’t afraid to make the move here and fans know that if Santos is perfect during his two games in Nissan Stadium (or if he just misses one on Sunday) then Tennessee would be sitting at 4-1 instead of wallowing in the pits of despair at 2-3.

When you lose to a team like the Buffalo Bills because you shoot yourself in the foot, someone has to be the sacrificial lamb. Last year it was Nick Williams and this year it is Cairo Santos.

As of right now it hasn’t been released on who will be replacing Santos or David Quessenberry who was also released today.

We will keep an eye on both of those positions, but I would guess that aside from the kicker added to replace Santos, the other name will be a depth player.

One interesting thing to think about is that Tennessee is down a running back now with David Fluellen on IR. Could this be the move that leads to the return of Jeremy McNichols?
