Who are NFL experts picking between the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3?

NFL experts from different media outlets have made their predictions for who will win the Thursday Night Football game between the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Last week, the Titans had the edge over the Indianapolis Colts according to expert picks, however those experts who had Tennessee winning ended up being wrong after a 19-17 defeat to Indy in Nashville.

Unfortunately, I was in that boat with them because I had Tennessee beating Indianapolis also.

Ahead of the Week 3 matchup between these division rivals in Jacksonville, experts are pretty divided on who will win, and both teams are getting love in this one.

Let’s see what the experts had to say.

  • Mike Golic (ESPN): Jaguars
  • Trey Wingo (ESPN): Titans
  • Dan Graziano (ESPN): Titans
  • Gregg Rosenthal (NFL.com): Titans (18-14)
  • Pete Prisco (CBS): Jaguars
  • Jason La Canfora (CBS): Jaguars
  • Will Brinson (CBS): Jaguars
  • Ryan Wilson (CBS): Titans
  • Tadd Haislop (Sporting News): Titans (20-14)
  • Vinnie Iyer (Sporting News): Titans (20-17)

Six of the selected experts we have listed above are picking head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad, while four are going with head coach Doug Marrone’s team.

Of the nine ESPN experts in total who made picks, five have chosen Jacksonville, while four have picked Tennessee.

On CBS’ picks page, it’s an even split, with each team getting four nods from their experts.

Last week, Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com had the Colts scoring an outlandish 33 points against a stout Dean Pees defense. Indy ended up scoring 19, and now Rosenthal has come back down to earth with his score prediction.

Here’s some of what Rosenthal had to say about this week’s contest.

"This matchup comes at a perfect time, with Tennessee’s veteran secondary (the Titans rank third in net yards-per-attempt allowed, per Pro Football Reference) well-suited to smother Minshew Mania. If this game marks the conclusion of the Jalen Ramsey era in Jacksonville, it figures to end with a whimper against a Titans team disinclined to throw the ball much unless it’s necessary. It shouldn’t be on Thursday night."

Our own staff was unanimous in its predictions: Tennessee will go into Jacksonville and grab a win.

While the Jags are enjoying a home game on Thursday night, the Titans have owned them in recent years. Tennessee has won the last four meetings between these two teams, and have been victorious in six of the last seven contests against Jacksonville.

You might remember the last games these teams had. That was the Week 14 matchup in which Derrick Henry tied a record for the longest rushing touchdown in NFL history with his epic 99-yard score. Henry finished that game with 238 yards and four touchdowns.

One of the more interesting storylines coming out of this game has to do with Jalen Ramsey’s future. The star cornerback has demanded a trade from the team that drafted him No. 5 overall in 2016, and this could be his last game in Jacksonville.

Meanwhile, Marcus Mariota has a lot of pressure on him in a contract year and is coming off a poor performance in Week 2. He can quiet a lot of the doubters with a solid game on Thursday night, or he can encourage them even more with a lackluster showing.
