Sneaky big news from the Jacksonville Jaguars on who will start vs the Tennessee Titans.
All eyes are on the Tennessee Titans offense for tomorrow’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but take a break from that.
Some pretty big news just popped up that we need to touch on.
I think most people already know that the Jaguars are starting rookie QB Garner Minshew. On a short week the rookie is going to see a multiple defense that often confused other young QBs in Baker Mayfield and Jacoby Brissett.
While Brissett was able to get away from four would-be sacks, Minshew is quite a bit smaller and probably will have a day closer to Mayfield’s than Brissett’s.
As if the Tennessee Titans scheme and players weren’t scary enough, Minshew is going to have to be behind a sketchy OL.
For those that don’t know, A.J. Cann has allowed the second most QB pressures in the NFL at 10, and that number is the most by an interior offensive lineman. On the right side, he will see a lot of Jurrell Casey or Rashaan Evans if the Titans put their diamond package on the field.

The other note is that Cam Robinson will play at left tackle for the Jaguars.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the former Alabama tackle, he suffered an ACL injury last year that knocked him out of the Patriots game in Week 2. Before the injury he allowed 2 pressures on just 6 pass attempts which is…not good.
Since then the Jaguars have waffled back and forth on whether or not he is able to play and he has been struggling to get healthy enough to play. Even assuming he is fully healthy, you are talking about a left tackle that has allowed 52 pressures in his 20 game career.
Robinson will be seeing his first action of the season and even for someone like Laremy Tunsil (the man apparently worth two 1st, a 2nd and whatever money he wants) the first game with a new offensive line can be difficult.
Since he last played any meaningful football (2017) the Jaguars have changed:
-Right tackle
-Left guard
-QB
-Top-2 TEs
-Offensive coordinator
Those are some pretty major changes that directly effect him. While the change at RT is an upgrade, that is probably the position that affects him the least on this list.
So now you have an offensive line that features one of the least effective pass blockers at right guard and left tackle, as well as a rookie QB on a short week?
The good news for them is that at least the Tennessee Titans haven’t been able to get to the QB this year. No, wait a second it turns out that the Titans defense is:
-1st in the NFL in turnover differential
-2nd in sacks
-2nd in interceptions
-10th in completion percentage.
If the team plays up to their ability it could be a LONG day for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
