How would a deal go down for Adrian Peterson, and what would it mean for the Titans locker room?

If the Redskins refuse to cut him, then the Tennessee Titans could call them up and save them from a PR nightmare and offer up Dion Lewis in a trade and maybe a swap of draft picks. If Washington is just going to healthy scratch him every week, they are going to make that entire locker room furious, so this would allow Washington and Gruden to save face.

The Titans lose their “receiving back” but get Peterson who looked like he drank from the fountain of youth last year. This would allow Derrick Henry to get some rest without allowing a drop off in production from the RB spot.

It also gives the Titans an RB with a pretty solid catch rate (76.9%) and allows them to run a balanced offense with either of those RBs in the game.

More from Titan Sized

As for the personality concerns you may have or whatever, think about a coach who would be better at dealing with that than Mike Vrabel.

Cameron Wake came to the Titans as really a starter for the Miami Dolphins last year, but he has immediately flourished in his role as a DPR (designated pass rusher). A likely Hall of Famer himself, Wake can relate to Peterson and is a great example of how taking a different role can still put you in the spotlight and add to your career.

If the Titans looked at him as a 12 touch per game type of player (only averaged 15 last year) then it would work out for everyone and Peterson would get the added value of running against a defense that has been worn out by Henry’s body blows all game long.

To me, this is a very Mike Vrabel/Bill Belichick type move. Grab a talented player with gas left in the tank and put him in a position to succeed that makes your team better. This move would make the Titans better, which is the whole goal right?
