Tennessee Titans were lucky to miss on Antonio Brown and should keep missing.

After an offseason of people bemoaning teams like the Tennessee Titans for passing up on Antonio Brown for such a small price tag, GM Jon Robinson comes out smelling like a rose.

The constant string think pieces on why Antonio Brown was going to thrive under Jon Gruden, have turned into condemnation for the way that Gruden handled the whole A.B. situation.

By all accounts Gruden backed AB instead of his own hand picked GM Mike Mayock, after a confrontation between the two and instead of suspending Brown or punishing him in any way Gruden said that Brown would play on Monday.

We all know what happened next, Brown “apologized”, hours later he released a video sort of trashing the Oakland Raiders, Gruden shrugged this off as well, then Saturday morning he asked for his release. And he got it:

So now everyone is talking about how it would be such a New England Patriots-type move to sign him to a cheap one year deal. While the Tennessee Titans should emulate the Patriots in a lot of ways. This. Ain’t. It.

Obviously common sense says not to sign Antonio Brown, but there will be a small but vocal section of the fan base that thinks that the right move is to sign Brown.

They will talk about “buying the dip” or they will cite his career stats. Yes, he was dominant for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but there is a reason why he isn’t there anymore.

In fact, he has actually been traded twice since his last game with the Steelers. Once to the Buffalo Bills which he sabotaged and the again to the Oakland Raiders.

The Titans don’t need him on the roster and he would do more harm than good in what has been praised as a great locker room by many. Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson should (and likely will) do themselves a favor and stay away from the whirlwind that is 2019-era Antonio Brown.
