Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel had a criticism of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson after he allowed a 75-yard touchdown play to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Marken Michel.

One of the few negative plays we saw from the Tennessee Titans defense in the preseason opener was a 75-yard touchdown pass that was surrendered by cornerback, Adoree’ Jackson.

Wide receiver Marken Michel got behind Jackson on a deep post route, and Jackson made a failed diving attempt to make a play on the ball. It was the lone touchdown scored by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Titans’ 27-10 win.

Had Jackson stayed on his feet, he could have possibly got a hand on the ball, but if not at least made the tackle to prevent the big scoring play.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel called Jackson’s play on the ball “reckless,” per Turron Davenport of ESPN.

“I think that that’s being reckless, that’s not being aggressive. Being aggressive would have been to take his left arm, which we all know is the long arm, the one closest to the ball, and bat it down. But it was great to see him come back, and make some plays and challenge.”

Jackson did recover the rest of the way. The Eagles took another shot at him downfield in a pass attempt down the sideline to wideout JJ Arcega-Whiteside later in the game, however Jackson was able to make a play and knock the ball down. The third-year pro finished with two Pass Defended.

A major issue for the Titans last season was getting beat deep, and Jackson showed why that’s still a concern in 2019. This Titans defense has too much talent throughout to let big plays burn them, so you’d like to see Jackson make the smarter play there and at least try and make a tackle.

Granted, this is just one play in the first preseason game, but it certainly stood out in what was an otherwise stellar defensive effort. If the Titans can clean these types of plays up, the defense is going to be even harder to score on than it was in 2018.
