Loser: Austin Johnson, DT

I just don’t know how you can justify keeping Austin Johnson on the roster right now based off of how he is playing and based off of how guys like Isaiah Mack are playing behind him.

At the point of attack, he is getting buried by double teams and just doesn’t have the strength to be a two-gap DT. When he tries to stand up and penetrate he gets drive back into the lap of the linebackers.

As a pass rusher, he doesn’t beat any starters and he very rarely pushes the pocket at all.

I had him as a top-40 player in his draft class, so it isn’t that I don’t like him or that I never liked him as a prospect. The issue is that so many times it feels like the Tennessee Titans are playing with 10 guys on defense when he is out there and the rest of the defense shouldn’t be punished because he isn’t winning his matchups.
