Marcus Mariota and Corey Davis going from good to great?

The Tennessee Titans haven’t had a consistently dominant WR on the roster in over a decade. It seems like there is a chance that changes soon.

Corey Davis has been outstanding so far in camp and that was true today as well. He has been so good that Mike Herndon coined a new phrase:

Look. It is practice, I know that people are going to freak out and every team is going to have 10 All-Pros heading into the season. However, the one thing you should always take note of is trends and style of play.

Right now it looks like Davis has a ton of confidence and when you see clips of him winning on these receptions, he is being a LOT more physical than he has been in recent history. Not “Camp OPI” physical, like go up and end up on highlight reel physical, which translates into games.

This is leading to more and more trust between he and Marcus Mariota which is leading to jump balls that Davis continues to win.

If he develops into a deep target that Mariota can depend on to catch those 50-50 balls down the field, the entire offense changes. Now all of these players who thrive underneath get even more space to work and win after the catch, not to mention defenses being forced to play their safeties back which helps the running backs.

Camp is just a small preview of what the season could be, but so far we are seeing exactly what we wanted to from Corey Davis and Marcus Mariota.
