What did the Tennessee Titans star have to say about his suspension.

Taylor Lewan claimed that he didn’t willingly take PEDs, and according to everyone that has been around him or knows him, it isn’t in the Tennessee Titans character to cheat.

When Lewan stepped up to the podium to speak for the first time since his suspension was announced and spoke about what exactly happened to get him in trouble. Jim Wyatt did a great job transcribing most of it here if you don’t want to watch the whole video.

He spoke about how contaminated batches are something that is impossible to test for unless you get each individual container checked. He spoke about lot numbers and supplement ingredients and how there is no oversight from the FDA, it was all really informative.

The best to describe it is this. Imagine that you are going grocery shopping and you buy a carton of eggs, with each egg being labeled as being from a specific chicken.

The NFL then goes to that farm and says all of these chickens are totally acceptable, have whatever eggs you want. However, unless you check every single egg with a third party company, you are liable for whatever you get tested for.

Meaning that even are the NFL points you to a farm and says “Use these eggs” if you get in trouble it is on you no matter what you do.

Getting back to the reality of the situation, if you took an unopened container of that supplement from the same lot to the testing facility and they tested it and said it was illegal you are still at fault. Even if you can prove without a shadow of a doubt that it was not your fault, you still get punished.

The world isn’t fair, but man that sure seems like an easy way to get screwed which is exactly what Vrabel said:

Lewan was very forthcoming and transparent and said he will continue to update fans and media whenever he gets any additional information on the specific tainted supplement that got him in trouble.

The biggest revelation with me was that he was taking the same supplements in April and didn’t get in trouble, only to fail a drug test in May. Not only that, but the levels of the PED in his system were so low that it wouldn’t have given him any benefit.

I guess people are going to see what they want to see with Lewan, but to me it sure seems like a guy who took supplements okayed by the NFL only to get a tainted batch and get suspended for it, even though it never benefited him.

If you want to vilify him, it is probably because you already had issues with him in the past and not necessarily whether you believe the Tennessee Titans Pro Bowler is guilty or not.
