Tennessee Titans ideal trade targets from the Philadelphia Eagles
By Will Lomas
Derek Barnett, EDGE
It would really mess me up to have Derek Barnett on the Tennessee Titans roster because I am so used to typing “Derrick” for Morgan and Henry.
However, I would make that sacrifice for the team and I am pretty sure that the Titans front office would make a sacrifice to get Barnett into the fold.
This one really isn’t as much about immediate cap relief as it is long term cap relief. The Eagles only have $12 million in cap space for the 2021 season which means they would struggle to even pick up Barnett’s option if they wanted to keep him a fifth year.
On the field Barnett has been really solid, though maybe not the EDGE1 that they though he could be when they drafted him.
Barnett is coming off of season ending shoulder surgery which is never great and the Eagles aren’t going to get caught with their proverbial pants down if he can’t play this season. These are the EDGE currently on the Eagles depth chart excluding UDFAs:

–Brandon Graham (re-signed this offseason)
–Vinny Curry (signed this offseason)
-Shareef Miller (drafted this year)
-Joe Ostman
I mean, that is about as deep as you can want and that isn’t even including Barnett so are we sure that the Eagles aren’t already considering a move at EDGE?
The Tennessee Titans could make a move for Barnett and their top-5 EDGEs in 2020 would be:
-Derek Barnett
–Cameron Wake (DPR)
-D’Andre Walker
That group would cost a combined $15.5 million with almost half of that being non-guaranteed money to Wake, however having cap friendly deals like that allows you to keep a guy like Wake who is so valuable in the locker room and so effective as a designated pass rusher (DPR).
The Eagles get long term cap space and a pick to help rebuild their roster that as 36 free agents next year. The Titans get their starting EDGE opposite Harold Landry for the next five or six years if they can afford him.
