What has been Jon Robinson’s most cap efficient move for the Tennessee Titans?

The question that Tennessee Titans fans need to ask before this article is, how do you determine value?

I think the best answer is how much you are paying a player relative to his position group combined with his talent relative to his position group. Kristopher Knox had his own interpretation and he went through the NFL team by team and broke down their most team-friendly contracts.

For the Titans, that title belonged to 3rd year CB, Adoree Jackson:

"The Tennessee Titans’ Adoree’ Jackson, 23, is one of the league’s best young cornerbacks—Pro Football Focus ranked him 27th at the position for 2018—but he likely won’t stop there.“If he can become more consistent, Jackson can become one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks,” NFL Media’s Gil Brandt recently wrote. “Jackson reportedly spent more time at the Titans’ headquarters this offseason in an effort to become a better student of the game, and his hard work should pay dividends.”He also adds value as a punt returner, which only makes his modest rookie salary ($3.07 million this season) even better for the Titans.Tennessee will have Jackson on the cheap for the next two campaigns and can retain him with the fifth-year option in 2021."

I think this is a great selection, with one very big caveat. That caveat is that the Tennessee Titans give Kevin Byard a new deal before the season starts, otherwise you have to give this title to the best safety in the NFL who is only making $2.2 million this year.

Surely he included that into his decision making, in which case he nailed it. The only other players that I would really consider are Harold Landry, Corey Davis and Jayon Brown. The first two because they play very expensive positions and Brown because he is just outstanding at football.

All in all very solid and the Titans have to love the fact that hitting on a great draft choice like Adoree Jackson has allowed them to bring pay cornerbacks like Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler so much without it negatively effecting the team’s cap space short or long term.
