The Quarterbacks

On Wednesday, Marcus Mariota was grossly disrespected by NBC Sports’ Chris Simms, who ranked Mariota as one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

After an injury plagued 2018 season, Mariota is in a contract year and heads a passing attack that ranked 29th in the NFL last season. That means the Titans can only go up from here.

The offensive line has been beefed up and the ground game can take some of the pressure off and open things up down field. Mariota’s group of pass-catchers is the best he’s had in his career.

On top of that, an elite defense makes it so even a game-manager signal-caller can take this team far—and we know Mariota isn’t just some game manager.

As an insurance policy, the Titans signed former Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill as the backup. If Mariota sinks or gets injured, the Titans have a viable backup who could be starting for some teams in this league.

Even with all the questions and banter, the quarterback position is solid in Tennessee.
