NBC Sports’ Chris Simms has ranked Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota as one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has certainly seen some struggles during his career, but is he one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL?

That is, unfortunately, the opinion of NBC Sports’ Chris Simms.

After ranking NFL quarterbacks, Simms came up with Mariota as the No. 29 signal-caller. That’s right, according to Simms, the Oregon product is one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

First off, Simms is no stranger to hot takes and most times his opinion needs to be taken with a grain of salt. In this case, the same can be said for his ranking of Mariota and this list as a whole.

For starters, how exactly is Arizona Cardinals rookie Kyler Murray ranked above Mariota? The Oklahoma product hasn’t even taken a snap in the NFL yet and somehow he’s better?

More questions.

Is Jacoby Brissett, a career backup, really just two spots worse than the Titans quarterback? And how is Brissett ranked above New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning? Has Jimmy Garoppolo even played enough games (10 career starts in total) to be taken seriously here?

Then Simms puts Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco ahead of Mariota, but Flacco got unseated in Baltimore by then-rookie Lamar Jackson, who by the way is ranked worse than Mariota.

We could go on for days about this, but you get the point of just how silly this list is turning out to be.

Listen, Mariota’s career stats aren’t great and he’s coming off a lackluster season. Still, this list clearly doesn’t account for Mariota’s deep-ball skills or the clutch gene he has flashed in the past, nor does it account for a less-than-stellar receiving corps. and offensive line.

Nobody is saying Mariota should be jumped up this list significantly; however he deserves better than to be ranked as one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

Can’t wait to see what the rest of this list has in store for us (sarcasm).
