Watch Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees haul in a punt at the end of Wednesday’s practice.

Even at 69 years young, Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees still has the hands to reel in a punt and the wheels to take it to the house.

The Titans decided to have a little fun at the end of Wednesday’s practice when Pees was tasked with catching a punt. It went about as perfectly as you could expect.

The video is priceless, especially with the excellent music to go with it.

Look at the tenacity of Pees’ spike!

It’s small things like the players celebrating around their defensive coordinator and having fun that can build chemistry for a team. Every bit helps.

After announcing his retirement following six years with the Baltimore Ravens (two as linebacker’s coach, four as defensive coordinator), Pees returned to the NFL rather quickly to work with head coach Mike Vrabel, who was hired by the Titans in 2018.

Pees’ NFL experience is well-known. He has spent over 45 years as a coach in both college and the NFL and has two Super Bowl rings to his credit, one with the New England Patriots and the other with the aforementioned Ravens.

And clearly he could teach some of these NFL returners a thing or two about hauling in punts.

Pees was a linebacker’s coach with the Pats from 2004-05 and the defensive coordinator from 2006-09. Vrabel was one of Pees’ players during his tenure in New England.

The Titans’ defense saw some success under Pees in his debut season with the team. Tennessee’s offense ranked No. 6 against the pass, No. 8 in total yards allowed per game and No. 3 in points allowed per contest.
