Where do the Tennessee Titans sit in a AFC South power ranking of talent?

The Tennessee Titans had one of the best offseasons in recent franchise history with a great draft and free agency class.

Currently, PFF is posting their projected rosters for all the teams in the NFL where they highlight the top players on each team.

Now, usually when you hear top players you think the best on that roster but that isn’t the case here. These graphics show all the players that they graded with a grade above an 80.

That isn’t the elite tier which is reserved for players 90+, but it is filled with a lot of guys who you would expect to make a Pro Bowl and/or be one of the better players in the league at that position.

The idea with these is to show the impact players on each team, kind of like how EA’s NCAA games used to put a star underneath impact players.

In a league where top talent wins, it should be interesting to see which teams have the most talent. Luckily, they posted the AFC South’s projected rosters and here is the breakdown of that in order.

1. Tennessee Titans: 10 players total

-5 selected: Kevin Byard, Jayon Brown, Cameron Wake, Jurrell Casey, and Derrick Henry

-5 honorable mention: Marcus Mariota, Corey Davis, Taylor Lewan, Rodger Saffold, and Adam Humphries

Most surprising omission: Delanie Walker should have been at least an honorable mention after having a season of 74.0 or better for the last 5 years.

2. Houston Texans: 9 players total

-7 selected: Johnathan Joseph, Jadeveon Clowney, J.J. Watt, Benardrick McKinney, Deandre Hopkins, Will Fuller, and Deshaun Watson

-2 honorable mention: Justin Reid and D.J. Reader

Most surprising omission: None, this seems like a player too many.

3. Indianapolis Colts: 8 players total

-4 selected: Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton, Darius Leonard, and Justin Houston

-4 honorable mention: Malik Hooker, Pierre Desir, Anthony Castanzo, and Quenton Nelson

Most surprising omission: Ryan Kelly, but injuries probably knocked him down.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 players total

-2 selected: Calais Campbell and Marcell Dareus

-3 honorable mention: Nick Foles, A.J. Bouye and Brandon Linder

Most surprising omission: Jalen Ramsey, but he probably missed it for his late season collapse.

So as you can see the Tennessee Titans have the most above-average roster in the AFC South even without including guys like Delanie Walker and the talented rookie class.

The Texans and Colts are right on their tail, but they actually doubled up the Jacksonville Jaguars which is always fun for Titans fans to see.

This is a great reminder of just how talented this roster is and how frustrating it was to see injuries knock them out of playoff contention last year. Titans GM Jon Robinson has done a great job constructing this roster and it is interesting to see just how talented this team is across the board.

If they can stay healthy and if Mike Vrabel can take the next step and grow into that head coaching role, then this team is absolutely on track for a playoff spot in 2019.
