Tennessee Titans should try to land Taylor Lewan‘s other new best friend.

Right now there are only two real holes for the Tennessee Titans, and maybe not even that many.

In my opinion, the first need for the Titans is to address the EDGE opposite Harold Landry. I think Cam Wake is great and has a lot left in the tank as a pass rusher, if you are asking him to play 40+ snaps per game then I think you are in trouble.

The other position is pretty clear, right now the Titans don’t even have a starting right guard. That is what I am going to focus on today, even though it requires a little bit of imagination.

Before we get in depth, here is a reminder of the rules for this list:

-Nick Bosa, Quinnen Williams and Josh Allen will be gone barring a huge 1st round trade that is nearly impossible to imagine. They can’t be included in this list.

-Which of the players available specifically make the Tennessee Titans better.

-Don’t treat this as a big board, some positions won’t be brought up because there is no one talented enough that can come in and be an instant improvement over what the Titans already have.

-While long term help is important, consider what this player does for Tennessee short term and if they will help reduce the hit of free agent departures in the future.

Which player is the 13th best option for the Tennessee Titans in the 1st round?

Cody Ford OL, Oklahoma

I should preface this by saying that Jon Robinson hates projects. He wants guys who can walk into training camp and step into a familiar spot, and honestly that makes a bunch of sense.

If you were hiring someone to be a chef, would you bring in a farmer? I mean, the farmer has worked with food in the past so what is the difference in growing food and cooking food.

Well as it turns out there is a huge difference and just because a tackle does something similar to a guard, it doesn’t mean that it is an easy transition or one you should take lightly.

I usually try to keep those lines defined when it comes to tackles making a move to the inside at the next level. However, Cody Ford seems like one of the exceptions to the rule and is someone that I can see lining up either inside or outside in the NFL.

For the Tennessee Titans, a key this offseason is getting meaner. I think the game at home against the Baltimore Ravens left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

Play after play Marcus Mariota was on his back and the offensive line just sort of stood back and watched as Ravens defenders danced on the fireball and mocked the Titans. That can’t happen in 2019.

Rodger Saffold will go a long way towards making this offensive line better, but adding Cody Ford on the other side would send a message.

In case you have never watched Ford, I think it is safe to say that he may be the meanest prospect at any position in the 2019 NFL Draft. He doesn’t want to shake your hand after the play or help you up, he wants to make you pay from whistle to whistle and then give you a little something extra after.

Is he the most athletic player? No, but he is average and with his control at the point of attack and with his attitude I think he would walk in and make this offensive line significantly better.

One sneaky aspect to his game is how good he is in pass protection. He is really wide which makes it hard for defenders to turn the corner on him and if he can square up and get his hands on them then they are finished.

That was how he measured up against EDGEs at the college level, imagine how well he would hold up against interior DLs that fall right into his wheelhouse of the power game.

In the end, Ford would give the Titans a starting caliber right guard who offers insurance at offensive tackle if something happens on the outside.

Tennessee needs more mean players to feed off of each other and to discourage hits on the quarterback. Cody Ford could help the Titans remember their identity as an angry football team that nickels and dimes you in the run game and then when the defense is so beat up in the front seven that they have to start walking safeties up, Marcus Mariota goes play action and scores a 50-yard TD.
