Tennessee Titans and Kenny Vaccaro agree to 4-year deal
By Will Lomas
Tennessee Titans land top in-house free agency target.
Well, if you saw this post earlier you know that I was a little bit concerned that the Tennessee Titans might not get Kenny Vaccaro re-signed.
However, with huge contracts flying everywhere Jon Robinson managed to bring back a very talented safety back into a defense he thrived in. Not only that, but he did it at a very reasonable cost.
Now, the deal isn’t going to be structured like this but let’s just pretend that it will be for a second. That is a deal worth $6.5 million per year, $2.875 million guaranteed.

Putting that into context, before the recent signings that would have made him tied for the 12th highest paid safety annually in the NFL. That seems completely fair given his level of play last year.
However, look at the other money safeties are making this offseason and tell me that doesn’t seem like a great deal for the Tennessee Titans:
-Landon Collins: 6 years, $84 million, $45 million GTD ($14 million annually)
-Eric Reid: 3 years, $21.7 million, $10 million GTD ($7.23 million annually)
–Rumor Earl Thomas is asking for at least $28 million over the first two years of his contract.

Those are huge numbers and you could argue that none of them would have had the instant impact on this defense that Vaccaro would have considering his familiarity with the scheme and the other players.
Robinson is never just sitting on his hands and today he showed why patience makes some fans furious but the result is usually worth the wait. The Titans now have re-signed their biggest target and should be focused on making this team even better.
So what is next? We all expected this to be the first domino to fall, so now do they turn their eyes to Golden Tate, Preston Smith and/or Justin Houston? Or is there going to be a move that none of us expect pop up out of nowhere.
While it seems like it may have been the Vaccaro deal because they were around the same time, Logan Ryan did post a pretty cryptic tweet and hasn’t posted anything since:

Time will tell, but like I said it is odd timing and no news has come from Ryan since so the mysteries and excitement of free agency continue as Tennessee Titans fans sit, fervently refreshing Twitter.
