Can any Tennessee Titans player hit a major milestone?

Most seasons, no matter what the outcome an NFL team will have a standout player and the Tennessee Titans are no different.

In the past players like Brian Orakpo, Jurrell Casey, Delanie Walker, or DeMarco Murray have hit various numbers that have set them apart from average or even good players.

The way I see it, there are a few major landmarks players can hit:

-1,000 yards receiving or rushing

-30 passing TDs

-10 sacks

-5 interceptions (usually puts you in the top 10-20)

So which Titans are closest to those milestones? Here are the five that I think are Tennessee’s only hopes of breaking through those levels.

1. Derrick Henry: 1,000 rushing yards

Henry is only 34 yards away, and as hard as it would have been to believe at midseason it seems likely that he will eclipse the 1,000 yard mark. For him to be at this point, I think everyone that doubted him has to admit that while the analysis may have been right at the time, he is a completely different player than he was for the first half of the year.

2. Corey Davis: 1,000 receiving yards

This one would be tougher, but it wouldn’t require a career day from Davis. The second year WR is only 157 yards away from the milestone. Now granted, it is a lot to ask, but no matter who the QB is this week, Davis should come out of this game as the most targeted WR if the Titans are going to trust their best players.

3. Kevin Byard: 5 interceptions

The Tennessee Titans have two heartbeats, Taylor Lewan on offense and Kevin Byard on defense. Byard has been great all year but because he didn’t have the interception total people wanted, they thought his season wasn’t as good as last year.

I don’t agree with that, but I do think that getting a fifth INT would be a great accomplishment that hopefully forces people to pay more attention to him as one of the game’s best safeties if not THE best.

4. Malcolm Butler: 5 interceptions

It is crazy we are here, but Butler is actually the other DB most likely to hit five interceptions. Despite Butler’s woes in the first half of the season, he has actually played really well lately and already has three interceptions.

5. Jayon Brown: 10 sacks

This one is nearly impossibly, but with Jurrell Casey out the mantle of leading sack artist goes to Brown. When Brown is hot, you could see him getting two sacks or even three, but it would take four sacks to get him to that mark.

Do I think he can do it? Probably not. However, he is just a sack away from the team lead of 7 and I could easily see him having a big game simply because the Titans are almost out of ways to get to the quarterback that doesn’t involve Brown or another LB/DB blitzing.
