The Tennessee Titans need help at punt returner.

Aside from Ryan Succop’s recent kicking woes, the Tennessee Titans special teams has been pretty solid.

Look no further than Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern to see that the Titans are doing well in the third phase of the game. Combine his efforts with those of Darius Jennings as one of the league’s best kick returners and the trio of Will Compton, Brynden Trawick and Daren Bates as special teams tacklers and you have a great unit.

However, the biggest issue plaguing this otherwise great unit is the punt returns. Adoree Jackson has developed into a very good cornerback, but doesn’t have that same home run potential that he did all throughout college.

If he doesn’t have the feel for punt returns anymore, then there is no reason to put him in harm’s way like that. With him out the Titans have no one to return kicks. In fact, it is worse than that, if Jackson doesn’t return kicks they have to use Cameron Batson, who had the worst punt return I have ever seen.

The Titans need someone competent back there and someone who could potentially help on offense too. But where can they find someone like that at this point in the seaso-

Oh…never mind.

After an injured season the Rams made the questionable decision to let Cooper go which I really don’t understand. I guess they like what they have behind him, but I have no idea why.

As far as I can tell from PFF, Cooper only has one muffed punt in his three year career. That is a pretty high reward, low risk signing if you ask me.

Not only could he be an upgrade at punt returner, but honestly the Titans just need bodies at wide receiver. The Titans could make this move and add a guy who had 20 TDs and 2,420 yards from scrimmage in his last two years in college.

This is a no-brainer to me and if the Titans don’t pull the trigger you have to worry about another team like the Indianapolis Colts or the Houston Texans getting him and making the division even tougher.

Maybe there is an injury we don’t know about or some attitude problems, but if not then I don’t see how he makes it to Week 17 without being on a roster. With the state of the Titans punt returners and the lack of depth at WR, that roster might as well be in Nashville.
