The Tennessee Titans are dealing with more injuries.
It is frustrating, but now heading into the last two weeks of the season the Tennessee Titans are dealing with two big injuries.
Firstly, the Tennessee Titans haven’t made anything public but UDFA EDGE Sharif Finch is likely going to be out a while and probably placed on IR outright.
Finch went down with what looked like a shoulder injury yesterday against the New York Giants and was carted off the field.
In case you hadn’t been watching closely, Finch has probably been the Titans second best EDGE this year behind only Harold Landry. He was effective in the run game and even got to the quarterback pretty frequently with how few snaps he played.
On top of that he will be missed on special teams where he was one of the better players on good coverage units.

The other big injury was Logan Ryan who is definitely going on IR with a broken left fibula. This one hurts badly because Ryan has been one of the Titans best defenders this year and one of the most consistent players at any position.
In the cutthroat business of the NFL it is a next man up mentality, so the question you have to ask is: who is going to get those reps.
For Ryan, I think there are a few options. LeShaun Sims should obviously get the first crack at the boundary CB job, as well as some looks in the slot.

One option that probably needs to be talked about more is the potential for Kenneth Durden to be moved back to the active roster. Durden has been active for three games this year as a special teams player and he showed a lot in the preseason as a cornerback who wasn’t afraid to stick his nose in and help vs the run.
At this point in the season, it is probably better to find a great communicator who knows the scheme, rather than someone in free agency who may have more upside or better tape.
As for the EDGE position potentially being vacated by Finch, the Titans have a few options. It helps that they could get Brian Orakpo back soon (purely speculation) which would keep the top four options in place (Orakpo, Landry, Morgan, and Correa).
However, if there does need to be a move made the two players that make the most sense are Robert Ayers in free agency and LaTroy Lewis from the Titans practice squad.
The next 48 hours will be very interesting to see if the Titans are going to try to get a free agent boost or stay in house with guys they know. Either way, Tennessee has to hope that they don’t need either player too much in key spots because that is rarely a way to consistently succeed in the NFL.
